Overview
Computing is a fast-changing, exciting field offering students numerous options for rewarding careers and future advancements. The Master of Science in Computing is designed to enable graduates to extend and deepen their computing knowledge and practices. The program enables students to advance themselves in their careers in computing and information technology.
The competence of the degree includes data analytics, security, networking, intelligent systems, and software design. Additionally, students can select an area of concentration by taking a set of courses that support their individual career interests. Currently, the program offers two concentration areas: computer science and computer engineering. The program offers flexibility in the choice of a thesis or a project. The program requires the student to complete a total of 31 credit hours as either a full-time or a part-time student. The normal duration of full-time study is two years.
WHY PURSUE A MASTERS DEGREE IN COMPUTING?
The Master of Science in Computing program offers students an opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of advanced computing topics that enable them to apply information and communication technologies to real-world business environments and challenges or solve open-ended problems. Graduates of this program would be able to upgrade their knowledge with the latest advances in computing technologies. The program would also assist them to enhance and consolidate their existing computing knowledge. The research option provides students with the possibility to pursue further study such as a doctoral degree in computing.

Graduates of the Master of Science in Computing program would find themselves suitable in a variety of job environments such as academia, research, industry, government, and private organizations. The program could help graduates to pursue a wide range of higher-level jobs in computing-related disciplines such as project manager, research associate, network systems designer, IT security officer, database administrator, IT manager, etc.
WHAT DOES A MASTER’S PROGRAM IN COMPUTING COVER?
The program focuses on ‘applied’ rather than ‘theory’ aspects of computing and stresses on applications of computing without neglecting research orientation. The program covers a wide range of courses such as data mining, wireless networking, cloud computing, data science, advanced databases, computer security, project management, etc.
WHAT IS THE EXPECTED STUDY PLAN?
In order to make the program more flexible for working professionals, the program offers all classes in the evening –after 5 pm. Course attendance is compacted into ‘one-class per-one-course’ per week to fit around busy work and family schedules of students. A full-time study plan is provided in STUDY PLAN
