Early Childhood Center at QU Marks World Children's Day

Early childhood center at Qatar University (QU) marked World Children’s Day on 20 November. As the UN promotes international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children's welfare.

International Children's Day allows all people to engage in the task of defending, promoting and celebrating children's rights, and translating them to reflect positively on the standard of children's lives in this world. In this context, we review a serval Early Childhood Center specialist about the important of engage child right. Several officials at the center shared their sentiments on this occasion.

Dr.Maryam Al-Falasi, Acting Director of Early Childhood Center, said on this occasion, “The Early Childhood Center is considered a leading center at the local and regional levels in the education of pre-school education. We seek to prepare a generation that keeps pace with developments in our society, and building personality’s capabling them of integrating into the world of technology.”

“On November 20, all countries of the world celebrate International Children's Day. In recognition of its support for children of all races and religions and equality between them, and give them well-being on that day. In addition, because the Early Childhood Center is a unique model in terms of quality in the programs it offers. In addition, we are an integral part of Qatar University; we are keen to provide educational and psychological support for the child .We seek to provide the latest educational programs for our children to provide them with the necessary skills to achieve the leadership and mission of the Qatari society.” Dr. Al-Falasi adds.

Amna Al-Megheseeb, Assistant Director of Early Childhood Center, said, “Our children are our hope and our future, which we aspire to always be the best. Childhood is the hope of societies and the basis for building them at all times and places. Therefore, we must pay attention to its development and support its growth and development for a bright tomorrow. It is among the rights of our children that we must provide them with all the requirements of life, including care, food, attention, education, health and safety, in order to lead a dignified life filled with peace.”

Al-Megheseeb adds, “And because our children are safe in our hands; every year, we are keen to organize the celebration of the International Day of the Child by adopting a slogan related to the rights of the child, through which we emphasize the value and importance of the child and the recognition of his rights. We are working hard, through this celebration, to integrate the Early Childhood Center with university departments, and other centers and institutions related to children from the local community, as well as parents, so that the International Children's Day Festival is the product and fruits of the concerted efforts of the community groups surrounding the child.”

Iman Chaar, Preschool Teacher, talked about childhood. She said, “We all love childhood, We wish we were young children to have fun and play freely and safely We all dream of going back for one day to our childhood playgrounds, to our childhood friends, to our childhood innocence. We all tend to share our children playing in the spare time for the little child inside us who makes us love life and have fun and have fun as if we were children. Based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1989, And our belief in the importance of childhood, its care and development, because it is the maker of the future.”

“Over the past fifteen years, we have been keen in the Early Childhood Center to hold an annual festival to celebrate the International Day of the Child; the efforts of the Early Childhood Center are combined with the College of Education and Qatar University. With the aim of integrating the children of the center on that day with their peers from different kindergartens and educational institutions. To improve their skills, abilities and mental health. In addition, the center also seeks, through the festival, to build bridges of communication and partnership with parents, kindergartens, and various childhood institutions in the country.” Iman adds.

Lina Qtish, Preschool Teacher, said, “Every child has the right to health, education and protection. Every society has an interest in expanding children's life chances. However, around the world, millions of children are still denied a fair chance in education, health, and protection, because of either country, gender, or circumstances in which they are born. This puts the future of children at risk, and deprivation and inequality persist this threatens the stability of societies and even the security of countries everywhere. This is why it is necessary to pay attention to education, education and culture, which in turn contribute to raising awareness and focus on vocational education that teaches weak children in academic studies professions that will benefit them in the future.”

Samar Abuirsheid, Pre-School Teacher, commented, “Celebrating International Children's Day is a way to emphasize the importance of children's rights. That is by involving him in a set of activities and events that will improve the environment around him, and develop the world for the better. Some of these rights are education, Protection from all kinds of abuse, luxury, and have an adequate standard of living.”

Samar adds, “International Children's Day also allows all people to engage in the task of defending the rights of the child.
